YOUR WORDS. YOUR CHOICE.

How your private
archive works.

aft3rlife preserves stories with your participation and your approval. Here is what the current application does with them.

Your account and archive

You sign in with your own aft3rlife username and password. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes in Supabase; your browser receives an essential session cookie. Your archive, conversations, people, documents and capsule settings are stored privately in our Supabase project. Cloudflare hosts the application. The public example is fictional and is kept separate from personal archives.

The AI guide

When you opt in to the AI guide, relevant conversation passages, your wishes and selected archive context are sent to OpenAI to help continue the conversation or suggest a memory. Requests are made with provider response storage disabled. You review proposed stories before saving them. You can choose to write memories directly without the AI guide.

Audio transcription also uses OpenAI. Before recording, the application explains this and asks for your consent. Original audio is kept in your archive only when you choose to preserve recordings. Browser reading aloud uses the speech service available on your device.

Original documents

Uploads are stored in a private Supabase storage bucket. Documents are served after checking your account or your access to a selected capsule. Uploads can be photographs, PDFs, text and supported recordings, up to 15 MB per file.

Sharing a capsule

A capsule contains only the memories and documents you select, including originals attached to selected stories. Recipient access is tied to a named aft3rlife account. A recipient must sign in, use the capsule link and meet the release conditions. Preparing a replacement link invalidates the earlier one. Withdrawing access stops future access through that capsule; a recipient may already have saved a copy.

Legacy handover records your wishes and stays sealed until a separate verification process is available. The Legacy Agreement is a personal record of intentions, not a legal will or inheritance arrangement.

Review, revise and export

You can edit stories, people and wishes. Archiving an item hides it from the active collection and allows restoration; it does not permanently erase the item. Starting a revision of the Legacy Agreement pauses recipient access until you confirm your updated wishes and prepare the relevant capsule again. Download your archive from My capsule to keep stories, data and original documents.
